God’s Daily Delight: a Reflection on Psalm 66, Proverbs 8:22-30, 1 John 5:1-12 and John 13:20-

I am God’s daily delight and so are you. God created me at the beginning of his work. Human was known in the mind and heart of God from the foundations of creation. Before a word was spoken by God, human was his daily delight. Yes, you were known and loved from the very beginning. With the psalmist, I cherish the reality that God listens to me and gives heed to the words of my prayers. He has never removed his steadfast love from me. I love God. When I love others, I love God. Jesus taught that when we receive another, we receive him. That is such incredible reciprocity. Loving others demonstrates my love for God and reflects back his love for me. Obedience is such an amazingly difficult thing. Yet, it works. I have never experienced grace as fully as I do when I am obedient. I thank you Father for your unconditional love. But I am even more grateful for how I experience it most dramatically through obeying your commandment to love you and my neighbor as myself. Obedience is the key. Celebrate that discipline. Isn’t cool that you and I are God’s daily delight. Being human is an incredible reality.

Scripture texts are taken from the two-year daily lectionary cycle which follows the liturgical calendar and begins on the First Sunday of Advent.
